With the current economic situation many industries are finding that they need to come up with innovative ways in which to increase their clientèle and boost their profit margin. Traditionally bingo has been the game enjoyed typically by retirees. While in recent years the age of bingo players has decreased the younger generation has not followed suit as other age demographics have. Therefore in order to tap this market bingo halls are modifying their environments to attract members of the younger demographic.
For example in Loughborough changes have occurred there in the bingo game the displayed at the local bingo hall. The bingo game has been adapted to provide an atmosphere similar to what would be experienced in a nightclub. The bingo hall has dubbed this new version of bingo as “Meltdown”. Loud current music is piped out to players through large speakers. Also special lighting is used to mimic the party atmosphere of the night-club within the bingo hall. In Therefore young people cannot only enjoy the night club atmosphere and their favourite music that they can also partake in some games of bingo. Many field tests have occurred that have demonstrated the effect of this of this change. Given its success other bingo halls are considering having similar night-club bingo games.
Young people are also finding bingo appealing as it provides them an opportunity to earn some extra money. This demographic is typically in pursuit of money. With this type of bingo experience fun can be had while possibly earning some cash.
Bingo halls hope that some of these new innovative changes can help bring back their lagging business. Bingo halls have faced many challenges in recent years. Challenges that have resulted in the closure of numerous bingo halls. Unfair tax burdens have affected profits of the bingo halls. Additionally laws that have banned smoking in public places have drawn players away from the bingo hall and lured them to online bingo sites. As a result many bingo halls have been forced to close their doors. Which in these times of economic uncertainty has been quite unwelcome.
